Hello, good people of the world! This post covers the procedure for deleting a point from a qualified Building Management System (BMS), specifically the Siemens APOGEE® BMS. A template for your use is here: Deleting a BMS Point TEMPLATE.
- Deleting a BMS Point
1.1. Logon to the BMS Insight application as a user that has system administrator access rights to the Point Editor and the point being deleted
1.2. Record the name of the point to be deleted in Attachment 3, BMS Point Deletion Form.
1.3. Verify that the point is backed up in the InfoCenter Suite before deleting the point from the BMS and record the result in Attachment 3, BMS Point Deletion Form.
1.3.1. Log on to InfoCenter Administrator from the Windows Start menu
1.3.2. Select the row with Volume Name “Active” so that it’s highlighted.
1.3.3. Right-click on the Volume cell, select Open Volume and then Points to open the Points in <Active> window.
1.3.4. Verify the point to be deleted is in the list.
1.3.5. Attach a screen capture of the point shown in the end.
1.4. Run a Point Usage report to determine which PPCL programs use the point to be deleted and attach a copy to Attachment 3.
1.4.1. On the Insight toolbar, click the “Report Builder” button ( ).
1.4.2. Click “New” to open the “Create a Report” dialog box.
1.4.3. Select “Point Usage Report” from the list and click “OK” to open the “Point Usage Report” window.
1.4.4. In the Points section, click “Add” to open the “Object Selector” dialog box.
1.4.5. Select the point to be deleted, and click “OK.”
1.4.6. Click the “Run Report” button to generate the Point Usage report for the selected point.
1.5. Modify all programs listed in the Point Usage report to remove the points by deleting affected code. Attach a copy of as-found code and as-left code to Attachment 3. Record “N/A” if no affected programs.
1.5.1. Click the Program Editor icon to open the Program Editor.
1.5.2. Click Open to open the Object Selector.
1.5.3. Find the program to edit from the Point Usage Report.
1.5.4. Click OK to open the program in the Program Editor.
1.5.5. Print a copy of the as-found code.

1.5.6. Navigate to the line(s) referencing the point to be deleted and comment out or delete the line(s)
1.5.7. Add a comment to the program header change log referencing the change control and/or protocol number.
1.5.8. Click Save to save the PPCL and click OK to Confirm PPCL Download.
1.5.9. Print a copy of the as-left code following steps 22.214.171.124 through 126.96.36.199.
1.6. Delete the point from Trend Collection reports. Record N/A if the point is not used in any Trend Collection reports.
1.6.1. On the Insight toolbar, click the “Report Builder” button ( ).
1.6.2. Click the “Open” button to open the “Object Selector” dialog box.
1.6.3. Select “Trend Collection” in the “Report” field and click “Find Now” to list all saved reports.
1.6.4. Select the Trend Collection report that contains the deleted point and click “OK” to open the report. Trend Collection reports cannot be searched for a particular point, so you may have to check each one manually. That information is typically included in the initial IOQ.
1.6.5. Select the point to be deleted from the “Points” window and click the “Remove” button. Click “Save” to save the changes.
1.6.6. Close the Trend Collection report.
1.6.7. Repeat steps 1.6.4 to 1.6.6 for each affected Trend Collection report.
1.7. Delete the point from all Insight graphics. Attach a copy of as-found graphic and as-left graphic to Attachment 3. Record “N/A” if no affected programs.
1.7.1. On the Insight toolbar, click the “Graphics” button.
1.7.2. Select the Graphics in which the point is located to open the Graphics.
1.7.3. Place the graphics in Edit Mode by click the Mode Toggle (..) button.
1.7.4. Select the point and right click the mouse and select Delete to delete the graphic.
1.7.5. Select File and Save
1.7.6. To close Graphics, select File and close.
1.8. Delete the point from the Insight database.
1.8.1. On the Insight toolbar, click the “Point Editor” button ( ).
1.8.2. Click “Point” and then “Delete Point” to open the “Object Selector” dialog box.
1.8.3. Select the point to delete.
1.8.4. Click “OK” to delete the point
1.8.5. Click the “Yes” button to confirm the deletion.
1.8.6. Enter change control and/or protocol number in the “Reason for Change” box and click OK.
1.9. Remove any unused instruments from the field and wiring from field panels. Record “N/A” if no instruments or wiring.
1.10. Update documentation and drawings, including FRS, panel drawings, wiring diagrams, etc. Record “N/A” if no affected documentation or drawings.
